1. Marble floor polishing process

Floor area to be clear of furniture and plants, protect area at floor level with plastic sheets & tapes at door frame, doors, wall paper & fitting will be protect with wrap around plastic sheets & masking tapes.

Patch breaks with colored epoxy to blend in with surrounding surfaces and fill missing grouting with color matching existing finish.

Activate floor polishers and wet vacuum to ELCB at power points.

Using floor polisher with a series of diamond polishing pads, from 50 resin, rough to ultra smooth grids, 1500 resin to remove worn and scratched surfaces. Area around edges and corners will be done with hand power tooling with soft diamond pads.

After every grids, floor will be vacuum clean to avoid dirt & grits getting into polishing process, care to ensure good clean finish.

Apply ultra shine polishing powder in circular or parallel motion with white pad polish surfaces to a clean gloss finish. Vacuum up excess, mop surface clean.

Sweep clean surfaces, buff with white pads to a final finish.

Important
Keep surface ventilated after polishing to avoid efflorescence staining that is very common with limestone based crema marble tiles.

Recomended.
For prolong floor life and ease of maintenance, application of impregnator sealer is highly recommended in case of accidental spillage and staining. Sealer application can only be done on dry surfaces, do not wet surfaces for at least 12 hours for effective curing


2. Maintenance of polished marble floor tiles

To maintain floor surfaces, it is essential to keep the surface dry and a regular maintain frequency be implemented, sweep, mopping with marble care maintainer or buffing will enhance surface gloss finish.

For public area, to monitor and implement a rigorous cycle of maintenance program is needed otherwise marble surfaces will deteriorate rapidly due to traffic pattern, do not leave plants and moving object on floor surfaces as watering and constant moving will damage floor tiles leaving scratches and water stains.

Floor mats to trap dirt at entrances is highly recommended. Do not allow delivery trolley over polished marble surfaces as grit and sand trap on wheels will transfer as scratches to floor surfaces.

In enclosed area, like toilet with constant wet and dry cycle, air blower, exhaust fan and a robust maintenance cycle using floor polisher to light diamond or powder polishing process is recommended.

Never hose marble surface with water, this will cause the wetness effect leaving surfaces with hazy and dull finish.

The right marble cleaning chemical is key, avoid acidic, alkaline and ammonia products as they will damage polished marble surfaces.


3. Restoration process for breaks on polished marble floor tiles

Move furniture and fitting away from work site, protect walls and surrounding with plastic sheets and tapes, avoid damages to room existing fitting and furniture’s.

Identify tiles to be repair, knock out loose surfaces, clean and vacuum dust from breaks, prepare epoxy blend with pigment to match floor tonality. Apply sufficient amount to cover break to level with surrounding surfaces.

Allow epoxy to dry, using floor or hand polisher with series of diamond polishing pad, polish surface to a smooth finish. Follow with white polishing pad and polishing powder, polish surface to a clean finish.

Repair surfaces will be smooth to the touch with color tonality matching surrounding surfaces and not stand out looking from afar.

Sweep clean and vacuum area, buff with floor polisher to ensure work carried out is completed and clean to be hand back to owner.
